THE MAN - THE ENTERTAINER - THE MINISTER

The Man

Napoleon Ladale Lawson was born May 14, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Merle Lawson and Thurman Smith.  His parents never married and separated when Napoleon was two years old.  After separating from his mother, Napoleon's father completely vanished from his life.  Napoleon was then raised by his mother and grandmother, Jonnie Mae Lawson.  Jonnie Mae was a devout Christian and had a tremendous influence over Napoleon throughout his early life.  She is credited for being primarily responsible for his Christian faith and passion for bible study.  Napoleon was also very interested in ancient history and world politics at a very early age and devoted much of his time to those areas of study.

Napoleon graduated from Proviso West High School, in 1990.  He attended Triton College for two years but withdrew before attaining his Associates Degree so that he could work fulltime to provide for his 1st wife, Rae Erica Murray and child.  Although the couple dated several years prior to marriage, they divorced in less than a year.  Two years later Napoleon legally married Sheila Marie Phillips and had a second child.  Napoleon and Sheila had a very successful marriage in many respects, but as Napoleon's relationship ministry began to flourish, Sheila became frustrated with sharing his time and attention and ended the relationship.  After her departure Napoleon entered a covenant marriage with Maria Garcia Cruz and when Sheila decided she wanted to return several months later and reconcile, her only option was to share Napoleon in a polygamous marriage with Maria.  Then later, when his dearest friend and high school sweetheart, Natasha Shuntay Sawyer (a/k/a Natasha S. Lawson), arrived (as Napoleon had predicted several years earlier), Sheila and Maria were forced to share again.  Sheila and Maria both struggled in their polygamous marriages to Napoleon and eventually left to pursue normal lives and monogamous relationships.  After their departure, Napoleon legally married Natasha who ultimately proved to be a wonderful wife and more committed to Napoleon and his ministry than any wife prior to her.  However, to everyone's surprise, in March 2006 Memory Burnett (a/k/a Memory Burnett Lawson), Napoleon's oldest friend  and first true love, re-entered his life, accepted his marriage proposal and became his wife in a covenant marriage.  However, unlike Sheila and Maria, Natasha and Memory had each been close friends with Napoleon since he was sixteen and neither had intentions to leave.  For the next three years, like the tug-a-war that took place between Jacob's wives, Rachel and Leah, a power struggle between Napoleon's most committed and only remaining wives ensued.  In the end, while her love for Napoleon never failed, Natasha grew tired of the tumultuous relationship, public scrutiny, the distraction from her career and the energy that was required to maintain her Dominant Wife status.  So after 8 years of marriage, Natasha relinquished her position and left to pursue a normal life.  Of course, Memory went on to assume the Dominant Wife position and has performed brilliantly in the role since Natasha's departure.  Today Napoleon and Memory are blissfully happy in their pseudo monogamous marriage.

The Entertainer

Napoleon's views on tithing, polygamy, secular music in ministry, teaching the word, coupled with his tell it like it really is mentality, ruled out the possibility of cultivating his ministry in a conventional church setting.   As a result, for many years he withheld his controversial views from the Church and general public, but in the winter of 2007 he received a revelation that redefined his approach to ministry.

Napoleon, Natasha and Memory attended a Katt Williams concert at the Aire Crown Theater on December 31, 2007.  In his usual fashion, Katt was hysterically funny, but Napoleon was more impressed with the freedom with which Katt was able to speak to his audience.  He also noted that while making light of serious current events and incorporating them into his act, he was able to share his honest opinion regarding a number of social issues without hesitation or concern over how his comments would be taken.  After that New Year's Eve performance, the direction of Napoleon Lawson Ministries became clear.

Instead of attempting to conform to the standards, social norms and vocal restrictions that most ministers were forced to endure, Napoleon decided that he would have greater freedom to speak and teach if he approached ministry as an entertainer as well.  By doing so he would have the freedom to share his honest thoughts on any issue without worrying about his reputation or the way he would be received.  More importantly, as an entertainer, he would be able to focus solely on the secular audience that he had desired to reach for years.  Several months later, he formed Twin Goddess Entertainment and the Twin Goddess Broadcasting Network and the Rev. Napoleon Lawson era in Christian ministry and entertainment began.

The Minister

Radical, Unconventional, Revolutionary are some of the words used to describe Rev. Napoleon Lawson.  His ministry challenges conventional Christian views on marriage, tithing, secular music and the way the Word of God is taught.  He is a visionary with a style all his own.  He is the founder of Christian Relationship Coaching, Inc., First Family of Faith Church, Napoleon Lawson Ministries, Twin Goddess Entertainment and the Twin Goddess Broadcasting Network.  He is also the executive producer and co-host of several internet podcasts which include Rev. Lawson OnlineAgape's Way and Wisdom & Word.  Each program is broadcast on Twin Goddess Radio.  Like other ministers, he is committed to preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, however, his passion and primary focus is the Pop Culture Christian Movement, marriage and relationship ministry.  He has written several articles on these subjects and is a leading expert in his field.

Throughout his youth, Napoleon sought the type of sound, practical, biblical counsel that would prepare him for the challenges he would face in his own personal life as Christian teen and young adult.  As he matured he became committed to Christ, biblical studies and counseling Christians in various areas of their personal lives.  Today through the various avenues that God has given him, he continues to reach out to share what was revealed to him through vigorous study and real life experiences.  His anointed insight, practical approach to relationship ministry, and intimate understanding of scriptural principles as they relate to personal relationships between men and women have made him a Mighty Man of God.  He is a master communicator with a fiery passion that resonates powerfully with his listeners.  He makes complex scriptural principles simple so that the average person can understand, process and apply the information.  He is very entertaining so when listening to him, you are never bored.  What you see is what you get and he is brutally honest.  Most of all, he stands by the Word of God and his beliefs even if they are unpopular.
