Christians from all denominations are invited to use our services and we welcome secular patrons as well. But in an effort to help you assess whether or not our services are right for you, we think that you should become familiar with the basic tenants of our faith. With that in mind, please take a moment and review the following:
The Scriptures
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament were inspired by God, and are the only sufficient, certain and authoritative rule of all saving knowledge, faith and obedience.
God
We believe there is but one God, the Maker, Preserver and Ruler of all things, having in and of Himself, all perfections, and being infinite in them all; and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience.
The Trinity
We believe God is revealed to us as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, each having distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature or essence.
Providence
We believe God decrees or permits all things that come to pass, and perpetually upholds, directs and governs all creatures and all events; however, we also believe He allows intelligent creatures to exercise free will.
Election
We believe Election is God's eternal choice that some persons are predestined for everlasting life -- not because of foreseen merit in them, but because of His love and mercy. These people, however, are also called, justified and glorified to serve God's purposes.
The Fall of Man
We believe (1) God originally created man in His own image, and free from sin; but, through the temptation of Satan, he transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original holy and righteous position; (2) all generations of man inherited a nature corrupt and wholly opposed to God and His law; (3) mankind fell into condemnation; and (4) as soon as we become capable of moral action, we commit sin.
The Mediator
We believe Jesus, the Christ and only begotten Son of God, is the divinely appointed mediator between God and man. Having taken upon Himself human nature, yet without sin, He perfectly fulfilled the Law, suffered and died upon the cross for the salvation of sinners. He was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended to His Father, at whose right hand He ever liveth to make intercession for sinners. While among men, He was a Jew and Christian. He is the only Mediator for God's people, the Supreme Prophet, Highest Priest and Eternal King.
The Law
We believe that while faith in Jesus, the Christ, is the only route to eternal salvation, the Law's principles identify sin and provides believers with a basic outline of what God considers acceptable and unacceptable behavior.
Regeneration
We believe Regeneration is a change of heart, wrought by the Holy Spirit, who brings the spiritually dead to life, enlightens the mind concerning sin and enables us to understand the Word of God. This process in turn renews our whole nature and allows us to love God, our fellow man and practice holiness. It is the result of God's free and special grace alone.
Repentance
We believe Repentance comes after the Holy Spirit reveals our evil to us as sin, we must humble ourselves for it, learn to detest it, fear the consequences of it and strive vigorously to do what is right before God so as to please Him in all things.
Faith
We believe Saving Faith stems from knowledge of God's perfect love and absolute authority. It comes by hearing the Word of God and through the acceptance of His Son Jesus Christ. It is essential to a healthy relationship with God and a life of holiness.
Justification
We believe Justification is God's gracious and full acquittal of sinners, who believe in Christ and accept Him as Lord. It is only available to us through our obedience to and faith in Christ.
Sanctification
We believe those who have been regenerated are also sanctified, by God's word and Spirit dwelling in them. However, it is a process and requires time and the continued supply of Divine strength through the Holy Spirit. All true saints seek to obtain it by pressing after a heavenly life that is in obedience to all Jehovah's and Christ's commandments.
Perseverance of the Saints
We believe those whom God hath accepted in the Beloved, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace, but shall certainly be persevere to the end; and though they may fall, through neglect and temptation, into sin, impair some of their graces, bring reproach on the Church, and worldly judgments on themselves, in the end they shall be renewed again after repentance, and be kept by the power and mercy of God through faith in his son Jesus Christ.
The Church
We believe the Lord Jesus is the Head of the Church, which is composed of all his true disciples, and in Him is vested supreme power over its government. According to his commandment, Christians are to associate themselves into particular societies or churches; and to each of these churches he hath given needful authority for administering that order, discipline and worship which he hath appointed.
Baptism
We believe Baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus, obligatory upon every believer, wherein he is immersed in water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, as a sign of his fellowship with the death and resurrection of Christ, of remission of sins, and of his giving himself up to God, to live and walk in newness of life. It is prerequisite to church fellowship, and to participation in the Lord's Supper.
The Lord's Supper
We believe the Lord's Supper is an ordinance of Jesus Christ, to be administered with the elements of bread and wine, and to be observed by His churches till the end of the world. It is in no sense a sacrifice, but is designed to commemorate His death, to confirm the faith and other graces of Christians, and to be a bond, pledge and renewal of their communion with Him, and of their church fellowship.
The Resurrection
We believe the bodies of men after death return to dust, but their spirits become subject to God -- the righteous to rest with Him; the wicked to be reserved under darkness for final judgment. At the last day, the bodies of all the dead, both just and unjust, will be raised.
The Judgment
We believe God hath appointed a day, wherein He will judge the world by Jesus Christ, when every one shall receive according to his deeds; the wicked shall go into everlasting punishment; the righteous, into everlasting life.
